Dear Gilmer County:

As you know, my father, Willard F. Cottrill expired from an untimely death on October 20, 2010 in Gilmer County, West Virginia.  We are quickly approaching the EIGHTH year of his passing.  On October 21, 2010 and for two weeks after, I had extensive discussions with Mr. Hough and Deputy Michael Wheeler. Based on evidence  and upon surveying the scene at arrival the next day, and after speaking with eyewitnesses and watching events happen where police reports were made, I immediately asked for an investigation.  I also immediately requested an autopsy which I STILL can’t understand, was Denied.  I, as well as others, have sent repeated FOIA requests over the years in an attempt to obtain the statements of the 4 eyewitnesses present that evening as my father died.

Stories regarding this situation and my father’s death have been, and currently are being followed by community and social media, as we await truth.

Your County has allowed my father’s land and legacy to be sold off for pennies on the dollar and a Camaro.  I have recently heard that Right of Ways on that very SAME property have now been sold to a Mr. Bob Jones, while the ENTIRE parcel STILL remains in my name on the tax records, since there was never any legal partitioning of land done at the time of the Estate ‘settlement’, or since.

I have been to your town courthouse, I have talked to you ALL and beyond trying to figure out the twists and turns in this very messy case, every bit of which has been done behind my back and without my knowledge.  At this point, I accept what is and what has been done.

However, I have asked several times now….  if there is no further investigating to be done, Please close the investigation.  If there wasn’t enough to prosecute in the wrongful death of my father, I ask you to close this case and provide me with witness statements so that I may have closure as well.

If there is a procedure that I need to follow to get this done.  Please advise.  Eight years is long enough.

Most Humbly, and in the name of Justice, I appreciate your attention to my concern, and anticipate your prompt response.

Despite the fact that each was sent an individual letter to their work offices, as of this date, I have not received a response from any of them.  Not one.
